Nikol's Feathers have been making these past days more enjoyable. Nine light, airy miniatures that feel just right for this time of year, when I find it harder to take in new music. Airy in the sense of being light and open—not for a second should anyone think this is some kind of easy-listening pseudo-soft matter. Not at all. It’s a playful, ever-changing, and colorful half-hour, and after a few days, I’ve caught myself noticing how the tracks reflect different moods and emotions depending on how I’m feeling. Didn’t track three sound completely different yesterday? Or was that just me? Objectivity is key here. I completely get the joy of this album and totally understand why the tracks weren’t named. They just float around my head, moving in all kinds of strange trajectories shaped by airy currents, the moment, or maybe just the weather.
