Our Philosophy

Nikol Bóková and Jan Vala are artistic partners for many years. They are deeply interested in music, film, and a combination of these fields. Nikol is especially a pianist and composer, and Jan is primarily a UX designer, sound engineer, photographer, and director. Their common journey through life led them to a decision of establishing own record label. In spring 2022, Soleil et Pluie came to life.

"Soleil et Pluie, SEP for short, arises primarily from the need for absolute freedom in all the creative processes that accompany the creation of a music album. Jan and I embark on a new adventure, which, very surprisingly, turned out to be a natural step on our journey," Nikol says, and Jan adds: “Sun and rain cannot be commanded. They have the freedom to do what they like, and no one can predict, with certainty, what will happen next. They are a source of happiness and unhappiness and can arouse emotions in people, regardless of their inclination to one or another. They are one of the most common themes of the people on planet Earth. Let the music we will release be just like that.”

Our Values

Selection of music

There will be no genre boundaries in the realm of Soleil et Pluie. The selection of music and artists will always be based on our beliefs.

Design and Photography

We will follow our own aesthetics with the intention of consistent continuity as well as individuality of each album.

Sound

We always search for our own sound which forms an essential part of music we release.

Carbon footprint

We are contributing at least one percent of our revenue to carbon removal thanks to Stripe Climate and we make our physical albums in the Deepgrooves in the Netherlands, which is the greenest vinyl pressing plant in the world.
