The birth of the Elements.

Nikol:

Right after the release of my third album Prometheus, an idea of a solo piano project came to my mind. So I started to compose, search and discover. After a few months, seven pieces seemed to take on shapes, I gradually fell in love with the motifs, themes, and atmospheres. The main source of inspiration grew in strength, as classical elements made their way right into my mind. But as I approached almost complete forms of my music, I started to hear other colors. Firstly, the acoustic bass appeared in a Diamond Substance. And then it went in full speed in the direction of a line-up of piano, acoustic bass, drums, and electric guitar. At the first moment, I was a little bit sad about avoiding the original intention of a solo. I came to Jan and I told him: “Bad news. The Solo piano project is not happening. It just disappeared.”

"How so?”

“Well. I hear it as a quartet now.”

It took just a few seconds before the potential of this quartet filled my heart, as Jan told me: “Congratulations on your new album for a quartet! That’s amazing, after all!”

I instantly knew that David, Michał, and Martin are musicians for whom I will compose this music. And I am immensely happy I did.
